If you've ever smelled a scent and had it trigger a feeling or memory, you've experienced aromatherapy. Aromatherapyis the practice of using our sense of smell to illicit emotions, feelings, and memories. Aromatherapy uses scent to set a mood, stimulate cognitive function, and to make us feel good – mentally and physically.

getting Started with essential oils
Essential oils are highly concentrated, powerful liquids that have been distilled from a plant via steam or cold-pressing. These can be used individually as single oils (e.g. Lavender or Eucalyptus), or in blends containing essential oils from multiple plants. Large quantities of raw material are required to produce a few drops of essential oil, and the scent profiles vary slightly due to growing conditions in the plants' home region. Because essential oils are so concentrated, it is important to use them properly.
